Waylaid – Reworked
A woman awakes to find herself in a vast white frozen desert, the only landmark is a distant dead tree and her upturned car.
Waylaid was an indoor site-specific show for Square Chapel Centre for the Arts in Halifax.
A woman awakes to find herself in a vast white desert with the only landmarks being a distant dead tree and a wrecked car. As she begins to piece together her recollections, grotesque figures from childhood stories invaded the landscape, intent on preventing her escape.
The sound was played through headphones which consisted of music, broken conversations, poetic lines and general sounds of the landscape. This was accompanied by microphones which picked up sound from the real-life performance, making it hard to distinguish the pre-recorded sound from live action.
