Stupid Heart

Puffy heart crackled and misshapen
with heat, pork scratching heart,
flattened heart – out the other side
of an old-fashioned mangle,
oily prawn cracker heart,
cheesy Wotsit heart getting
its dust over everything,
soft fruit and yogurt heart,
pirate heart wearing an eyepatch
garish parrot on her shoulder,
monkey heart opening bananas
upside down, alien heart coming
in peace, snail heart retreating like
a coward, stripey heart, polka-dot heart,
evil clown heart with a round red nose,
U.V heart drawing attention in the nightclub,
battered heart praying again to the porcelain god,
dancing heart, heart stretching her bendy cartoon
arms out asking just for Love, stupid heart, 

   Love      Love        Love.
