Wildflower Terrace at the IOU Hostel

Last September we launched our wildflower terrace and meadow created  in collaboration with acclaimed landscape designer and wildflower expert Jack Wallington.

The terrace is coming into bloom ready to be enjoyed in June by our workshop participants

Join us for a hands-on, sensory-rich workshop where you’ll learn the art of crafting your own herbal teas and balms using fresh, seasonal plants. Perfect for beginners and plant-lovers alike, this workshop invites you to connect with nature, discover the benefits of local flora, and leave with practical skills to support your wellbeing.

Guided by a knowledgeable herbalist Alison Cooper, you will:

  • Learn how to identify local plants and shrubbery with healing and soothing properties
  • Discover how to harvest ethically and in tune with nature’s rhythms
  • Blend your own herbal teas from scratch using fresh and dried ingredients
  • Create a nourishing herbal balm tailored to the season’s needs

As nature flourishes, this workshop offers the perfect opportunity to explore the natural remedies available right on your doorstep. Whether you’re looking to boost your immune system, ease seasonal allergies, or simply enjoy a mindful, creative evening, you’ll leave with homemade products, a new appreciation for local plants, and the confidence to continue your herbal journey at home.
