Two Rivers Artist Talk

IOU Artists Richard Wincer and Louise Oliver join 9a Projects Director, Kelly Loughlin to discuss the making of Two Rivers and their response to the piece in the new setting of former cotton mill Robinwood Mill.

The Artist Talk will explore the process of collaboration and the resonance between Two Rivers and the site of an old cotton mill. Two Rivers is meditative, inviting contemplation of flow, of time passing. Relocated, the piece opens-up to further considerations of natural, industrial and environmental time, and in particular, the legacies of the cotton industry.

IOU’s Two Rivers is a contemporary sound art installation that blends woodcut, sculpture, and spoken word to explore themes of evolution, heritage, legacy, the passage of time and cycles of nature.

9a Projects is a not-for-profit, contemporary art space created with a vision to provide an independent gallery in the Upper Calder Valley harnessing the valley’s experimental energy, working with artists, curators and cultural institutions and cultivating new appetites and audiences.
